How to find us

We are located in the former Aixtron headquarters building. It looks like a blue glas cube and still has the Aixtron company logo (in red capital letters) on top.

Map of the area

Find a a larger map here.

By bus (from RWTH Main Building, SuperC, Audimax etc.)

  • Walk to bus stop "Ponttor" (note: as there are bus stops called "Ponttor" in several different spots, make sure you find the one in Pontstraße; look at this map)
  • Get on either one of the following bus lines: 27 (towards "Kohlscheid Bank" or "Richterich Roder Weg"), 37 (towards "Orsbach Lemiers"), 47 (towards "Merkstein"), 77 (towards "Richterich Schönau") (in the daytime, one of these bus lines leaves Ponttor at least once every ten minutes)
  • Leave the bus (after about 5 minutes) at bus stop "Wildbach"
  • From there, it is 5 minute walk: follow Roermonderstraße (southbound), then turn right into Kackertstraße
  • Find us on the left hand side after about 200 m.

By car

  • From Maastricht/Heerlen or Cologne via A4: Exit Aachen-Laurensberg
  • Turn right (Kohlscheider Straße), towards Aachen-Zentrum
  • At the second exit (after about 1.5 km) turn right, towards Aachen-Laurensberg
  • At the second traffic light, turn left into Kackertstraße
  • After 200 m, our office locations (the blue Aixtron building) are located on the left hand side

By plane and train

The closest airport is Maastricht in The Netherlands, but it is a small airport with only few incoming flights, most with KLM from Amsterdam. From this airport, you can take a taxi.

The closest airports in Germany are Cologne-Bonn (CGN) and Düsseldorf (DUS). DUS has more direct flights with traditional airlines, CGN more discount airlines. From both airports, you should take a rental car. The trip will take about 45-60 minutes. Another option is to take the train:

  • From Cologne-Bonn Airport, take a train (e.g. RE 11330) to Cologne Central Station; from there, take a train (e.g. RE 11434) to Aachen Central Station (trip will take about 60-75 minutes). There are several connections per hour. Try to find a conncection by ICE/Thalys trains, as they are much faster.
  • From Düsseldorf Airport, use the "Skytrain" to get to the train station of the airport; from there, take a train (e.g. RE 10132) to Aachen Central Station (trip will take about 90 minutes)

Another option is to fly to Frankfurt (FRA). From there, you can take a high speed train that brings you in 90 mins directly from FRA to Aachen. This trains starts in FRA 07:43, 13:43, 18:43.

With changing trains in Cologne airport, you have an option every 20 mins from FRA, but the trip may take 2 hours.

A final option is to fly to Brussels. From there, Aachen is about 60 mins by rental car, or about 90 mins by train.

From Aachen Central Station:

  • Either try to find a train to Aachen-West and then follow directions from there, as described below; or: At Aachen Central Station, find bus stop H.2 and get on bus line 13B towards Ponttor
  • Leave the bus (after about 12 minutes) at bus stop "Ponttor"
  • Get on bus line 37 towards AC Orsbach Lemiers
  • Leave the bus (after about 5 minutes) at bus stop "Wildbach"
  • From there, it is 5 minute walk: follow Roermonderstraße (southbound), then turn right into Kackertstraße
  • Find us on the left hand side after about 200 m.

If possible, try to find a train connection to Aachen-West, as it is much closer (especially advantageous when using regional trains from Düsseldorf).

From Aachen West:

  • Walk across the Republikplatz to Bus Stop "Westbahnhof" and get on bus line 24 towards Laurensberg-Rahe (bus leaves once every 30 minutes in the daytime). (note: as there are bus stops called "Westbahnhof" in several different spots, make sure you find the one in Süsterfeldstraße; look at this map)
  • Leave the bus (after about 3 minutes) at bus stop "Süsterau"
  • From there, it is a walk of 5 to 7 minutes: follow Süsterfeldstraße (northbound), then turn right into Kackertstraße.
  • Find us on the right hand side after about 100 m.
